CAIRO, GA- One volunteer fire department can now better serve its community with newer technology.
The Grady County Sheriff's Office donated 10 new, surplus military computers to the Grady County Volunteer Fire Department.
Sheriff Harry Young says as a veteran and as the sheriff, he keeps up with the local Marine and Air Force bases who donate the equipment when they can.
"It's something good that help saves the county thousands and thousands of dollars a year. And that's what we try to do is represent this county in a manner that saves them money and helps our firefighters and helps our sheriff's office and helps other police departments locally," said Sheriff Harry Young.
Head Volunteer Firefighter Richard Phillips is now installing all of the necessary software on all of the computers.
